I agree, but I think that was simply not feasible. It would have made him a pariah and they would have burned him down immediately as being a socialist, a muslim or a rasputim.

Under the present circumstances, no president can be succesful. He can only hope that some historians will retroactively discover he did a few good things or not, the way they write nowadays about Hoover and Roosevelt dealing with the Great Depression.
