I completely agree with you, yet all you have to do is follow the money to see some of the reasons why Washington permits this brazenness by AIG to continue. It appears that many politicians including Pelosi and Kerry have large amounts of stock and pensions tied up with AIG and their interests will undoubtedly influence any decisions imposed by the political elite.

People can only be pushed so far before then begin to revolt and that breaking point will surely come if things continue as they are. Back in the panic of 1969 (the original "Black Friday"), they dragged bankers onto the streets where they were unceremoniously hanged. That would surely send a message and dampen some of the hubris they continue to display. History always repeats!
