Good point Karl, Sean Brodrick seems to share your view as shown in his chart below from earlier today. Perhaps though not quite to the $800 level. The NY cartel usually ensures gold retests support over and over again.

Asia is presently down about 1-2% and DOW futures is about -57 at this point. Trading tomorrow could be most interesting on North American markets.
