Naked shorting in the Treasuries.....

Here is a link to an article from Euromoney today. Will wonders never cease? Seems the treasury market is reaching breaking point due to…are you ready? NAKED SHORTING: FTDs…tah, dah! Yes ladies and gentlemen, failures to deliver treasuries are now mounting rapidly in the last safe haven on mother earth for risk-adverse investors (we won’t let them in on our secret; gold/silver).

Get this, FTDs in treasuries among 17 primary dealers have reached an all time high of $2 Trillion lasting over many weeks and are now at $1.3 trillion! Well what do you know, investors are spooked. Walk a mile in our shoes baby…they are sorely worn through! And guess what….no one is enforcing regulation! Don’t you just want to throw your hands up and cry for these poor wretches?

Susanne Trimbath of STP Advisory Services isn’t expecting much to be done. “What is going on is simple stealing” (Oh, my God!!!). Laws are in place that aren’t being enforced she opines, “if the Fed won’t step in, then the Dept. of Justice has to”. But she goes on to say that if delivery is forced, the counter parties will go bust “and that’s when the music stops.” Investors could turn to the equity markets for better returns “but that assumes that broker/dealers also have to deliver securities in the equity markets” she says.

Oh, the humanity!!!

Does all of this have a ring of irony to it dear, tattered gold bugs? Can you smell blood? Are the ragged remnants of our scattered army ready to pick up their rusty swords for just a while longer? Will justice appear out of the murky, polluted fog to back our cause? Will the sun rise and the wind be at our backs? Now I’m getting corny.

Here’s the link.
