I'm shaking my head watching silver get clocked again. Most unusual, since gold is up a bit, and they usually track each other fairly closely. I don't often see them go in opposite directions to this extent.
Something really unusual going on with silver, IMO, possibly a growing disconnect between the paper and physical prices. No silver available yet the price plummets. Coin shops asking for whopping premiums to spot.
Interesting to speculate on how another price structure for silver set somewhere other than Wall Street would affect stock prices. Or maybe a pricing system with no formal structure at all. I think I read somewhere that Dubai may be thinking about starting something along these lines. Beats me.
Hurricane Ike has southeast Florida in its sites. Activity beginning to rumble around the area to shore things up. If it hits, it'll just be a metaphor for the condition of my portfolio. A disaster. Bummer.
