Somchai, I gree on price controls but I am not advocating that. I am for having a Canadian price and an export/world price. The current price rise is for no reason other than the world price going up so ours has to also.
As for environmental reasons, I am for a carbon tax that should go to fund green projects instead of the windfall profits going to further line the pockets of oil corporations.
Ororico says that we are linked due to NAFTA, then I say no to NAFTA, the previous Auto Pact, the mentality that cancelled the Avro Arrow and anything else that continues to make us into a dependant colonial state.
(Actually I live in southern Ontario, not far from the refinery processing Alberta crude at Sarnia.)
Conrad Black said recently that jobs are outsourced but resources are not hence Canada is very rich. I say resources ARE outsourced if they are sold off to outsiders at ridiculously low prices, therefore making Canada poorer. Why should I pay a higher price so that someone else will have an adequate supply? No matter how stated prices are controlled, the difference is in who and how, controls them and where the profits go.
I do not want to get into a pro/con debate here but just want to make some of the american readers here, who may be relying on that canadian oil supply, of the possible arguments and ramifications that may confront them in the future ( may confront me also if Albertans insist ).
