Golden Minerals is a junior silver producer with a strong growth profile, listed on both the NYSE Amex and TSX.
I suggested years ago that the mining, oil, and gas industry lacked equipment and that they should diversify their business and their reply was very adamant about keeping their focus, "forestry orientated"....hence, the situation they are in.
Madill has been shown opportunities recently by a potential mining customer in Arizona with a conversion of one of their model series machines. There is talk of converting a cable yarding machine so it may be used in the miner's open mining business. If successful, it could possibly land them a 9 machine sale.
The fact of the matter remains that they are in receivership but rumor has it that there are 5 interested parties in keeping Madill a viable business in the community. What their plans are as a business going forward, if a deal can be swung, are unknown.
Madill has been an employer of the Nanaimo area since 1907 and would definitely be a great loss too not only their employees but too the community as a whole. I'm remaining optimistic because there is still a glimmer of hope that Madill just doesn't fade away into insolvency with their assets auctioned off.....It would be a shame.
