Strangely enough, there has not been a consensus as to why the CDN$ rocketed up today. The majority of the reasons seem to involve appreciating commodity prices as the cause. True, Canada is a resource rich country but commodities have been rising for months now so this does not really explain today's move. I am betting the real reason for the CDN$'s big move either resulted from a silver discovery somewhere in Canada or B of C head Mark Carney taking the day off.
