Re SFF, before investing in Latin America you always should look at what that particular region is like.

Some gold areas are run by/threatened by organized crime, some areas have strong anti-mining sentiment, some areas are in local rebellion, some areas even the government doesn't want mines, some countries you don't want to invest in no matter what.

I'm ignorant about SFF so I'm not commenting on their situation, but Latin America is one of those places that requires major due diligence.
