With HF as Hoov referred to as fingers then eventually we should see this fracturing become wider as we get closer to the source.

The big question then is "How deep do we have to go to see these fingers thicken or even come together?"

This again just speaks to the time and patience it will take. The positive note is that we already have gold near surface.
