Scott I have never understood why Jim T said that this would be uneconomical to mine deeper that 1000M.

My thinking is as follows:

1. I believe there are deeper gold mines with the same or lower grades...but I could be corrected on that. I suspect the Timmins gold mines are deeper.

2. A large part of the capital cost of starting a mine is sinking a shaft. However once the shaft and headframes etc are in place, it is not that expensive to go deeper.

3. Now in this case they may be talking about using a ramp...but the same logic applies.

Your logic seems correct that the higher the price of gold the more economic it would be to go deeper. The general rule is....the higher the price of a mineral the more ore there is to mine.

I do not profess to be an expert in gold mining so I hope someone with more expertise will correct me if I am wrong.
