Twilight, they did a trench perpendicular to the strike of the gold bearing areas... I believe Hoov helped clairify that for me (and the rest of the forum, which was my intent). They blasted a trench through the rock approx. a meter deep by a meter or so wide with shaped charges (again, see the post by Hoov who was on site and explained it to me). '

This trenching was done at "surface"... there is no stripping necessary at the Timmins zone prior to mining gold... you get to start right away. Again, this is info I got from Larry so thank him. I just remember what he explained to me.
