via Base Hit Investing - Irving Kahn

Irving Kahn passed away in February of this year, one of the oldest living investors who had shorted a copper miningcompany in Spring, 1929. It's a matter of some interest to search through various business sources and the New York Times on his life and times.

via Global News - Sask Power Settles With Lac LaRonge Band

$75k settlement for Lac LaRonge band over Sask Power Key Lake line development. VERY IMPORTANT.

"In December 2012, SaskPower selected Valard Construction to install transmission infrastructure from Island Falls to Key Lake. Under the terms of the contract, the utility contractor has been building approximately 300 kilometres of 230 kV transmission line in northern Saskatchewan.

Once in service, Valgaard says the new transmission line should increase reliability and provide infrastructure to meet the growing demand for power in northern areas of the province.

The project was anticipated to be complete at the end of 2015."

Island Falls to Key Lake Transmission Line Project

Installation of transmission infrastructure in northern Saskatchewan. This requires Valard to build approximately 300 km of 230 kV transmission line, and includes foundation construction, installation of some 900 transmission towers, wire stringing and related project management.

To minimize environment impact, the route of the new transmission line will parallel an existing SaskPower line. Valard crews have mobilized and initiated construction on the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2015. Once in service, the new line will increase reliability and provide infrastructure to meet the growing demand for power in northern Saskatchewan.

Client: SaskPower
Location:
Northern Saskatchewan
Dates:
December 2012-2015
Services:
Construction

The transmission line runs through The LaRonge Gold Belt property near Tower Lake. It's very highly likely that most of the project will have been completed by now, and were there an expansion to the Jolu Mill, the power requirements are already taken care of.
