Bear in mind that the market sets the price for gold bullion, regardless.

Any attempt to dump physical gold out of production on days when production is actually settled worldwide, and dumped on the markets, or that short sellers have been racking up gains in the market will lose, simply because gold prices are mildly in backwardation, and becoming chronic.

Much as there were catastrophic predictions for gold prices, especially in the last few weeks, they simply have not materialized. Sell-side attempts to gain leverage were unusually aggressive here to be sure.
