via Yahoo.com - Gold Futures Chain

Very mild backwardation at the close on a flat futures chain for gold prices.

$Gold Weekly

In the weekly chart, it will take a move of only ~$12 to break out. Very likely options traders on derivatives are preparing for options expiry on derivatives, usually a week before precious metals options expiry.

On some of those expiry days for options on derivatives, the move was substantial enough to make precious metals option expiry really a moot point.

It would appear a layup for a breakout. Placed a price flag to indicate price level for breakout.

via INO.com - Adam Hewison

Adam Hewison sees gold prices turning up on trade triangles flipping to green. The RSI on the daily chart has definitely gone above 50:

GBN.V Weekly

Considering inverse correlations with bonds and with the silver/gold ratio, GBN.V shares prices appear to be in the process of a risk reversal, as correlations no longer pick out a bottom or a top. Company has to pull a rabbit out of a hat here for a re-rating of the stock.

Still waiting to see just what price might trigger the settlement of the former Waterton deal.

via INO.com - $CAD

The $CAD has fallen vs. the U.S. dollar, mostly because Canadian bond rates are lower in Canada. What followed out of the Libor scandal was higher rates on U.S. bonds, leading to a lower loonie.

Any premium assigned to a toggle-type payment-in-kind mezzanine capital deal anticipated by the Waterton arrangement, has been absorbed by declines in the $CAD.

Coxe Advisors discusses the decline in the loonie. I am thinking he might be the only analyst that does not agree with the pestilential idiocy that rates are on the rise, and that betting on gold in terms of yen is a great idea.
