Options Expiry Dates - March 16

For some strange reason I had believed that options expiry came early because of the rapid and obvious changeover from the March contract to the June contract in the pricing of the Puts.

But that was jumping the gun on the part of traders, because they could have accumulated tens of thousands of contracts with time to spare for next to nothing worth billions in leveraged money, and probably a few percentage points in profits into the month of April.

Easter doesn't come this week, just the weekend of April 6. Where the sellers in the bond markets will come from is anybody's guess.

But if the bond markets continue to decline, then GBN.V will rise, as the strong inverse correlation requires. At least according to the monthly chart. And the monthly chart never lies.

Options stop trading today, and expire tomorrow, Saturday. St. Patrick's day.

With a few thousand dollars, you can still purchase all of these options, from 147 all the way down to 138 puts trading @1.5¢ but then you better have a huge margin account.

Now, I don't know anything much about how futures contracts work, but shouldn't these contracts be trading @$30 rather than 1.5¢?

And if they expire in the money, and you have a huge margin account, wouldn't you have the exclusive right to sell that amount of 30-year treasury bonds straight into the declining bond market?
