Juniors who make it to production will do well but it it those juniors that can go from zero to one mine, or one mine to three or four that will be the biggest winners. We prefer producers but we are looking for those that are likely to have multiple operations. Producers that have strong development projects in the pipeline have advantages over pure development companies and producers that lack the assets to grow production. For example, our favorite gold stock for the past two years and largest position in the model portfolio is set to put its second mine into production in the coming months and a third mine into production by the end of 2013."

I recently provided a watch list of gold companies to this discussion forum. They make interesting reading, and you can put all of these stocks into a watch list on Yahoo Finance in order to keep up with the news. They make for very good comparables either financially or geologically, though some are just not investments. Some might still command a speculative premium with a higher gold price.

One you might add is YJK.V, Yellow Jacket Resources, recently spun off from Eagle Plains Resources. Yellow Jacket Resources used to be the property of Prize Mining, which once commanded a share price of ~$20, but crashed badly into the recession after the internet bubble burst and never recovered. Prize mining implemented production against all odds in a placer operation, and eventually sold their property to EPL. EPL has since been removed from the list, because it's a base metals mining exploration company.
