Institutional Ownership - CNBC

CNBC has an interesting segment in their real-time quotes web page. It lists the institutional ownership of any shares. There is a problem with this website, however as not all requests for data will actually load the page. Plus, there are some factual errors. Looking for Canadian-listed stocks can be hit and miss, so I took a screen shot.

GBN.V Institutional Ownership

Resolute Funds does not show in the CNBC summary, even though they own 3%. As you can see, aside from Sprott, Resolute, Netolitzky, insiders and some smaller holders, there is not much institutional participation. Connor, Clarke and Lunn had sold their stake last year.

I can't say that I know whether the institutional ownership adds up here, because other sources say its not as much, but they may be mistaken as well. GBN.V has removed this information from its website. GBN.V shares are generally not owned by any institutions with no participation.

There have been virutally NO alternative monthly reports denoting changes in large holdings for almost a year, save the Sprott has not topped up their position.

Unless you can get a Canadian source for this data, I don't think any website will provide the accurate informaion.

Claude Resources - Comparison

Claude Resources makes an excellent comparison with GBN.V, since its in the same gold belt with the same geology, and their production matches the projected output of GBN.V. All considered, CRJ.TO may have to heavily dilute their own shares to implement further output increases, due to their holdings elsewhere in Canada.

Golden Band has acquired all of the prospective ground in the La Ronge, so CRJ.TO has to add to its existing production near the Seabee, or look elsewhere. Golden Band's mines have 20 years of production or more in front of them to get to the same depth as Claude Resources.

We'll see what happens, but its very certain that the gross dilution of GBN.V shares is driving major investors away. Claude Resources has an AMEX listing, so their data shows up readily.

Daily Ichimoku

The daily Ichimoku study picked out the weakness in the stock this week. Its basically been a terrible week for GBN.V holders, since no news from the Treasury Board concerning permitting for the tailings impoundment was forthcoming.

After the Treasury Board amends the sched 2 of the MMER, there is still the rubber-stamping of the permit after gathering cobwebs in Ottawa, the official ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Mayor in a top hat and tuxedo, and the Papal and Royal Visits. Plus they also have to build the train track going to Nunavut so's people can have lunch in Missinipe if they live in Iqaluit. So still a few years left to go.

They're look at sending the tailings by mail to the formerly-employed DFO officials that deemed the provincially-licensed Mallard Tailings Impoundment a fish habitat.

There have been a number of mergers and acquisitions this last month, notably Century Mining was taken over by White Tiger, Roxmark(Goldstone) was taken over by Premier, and Trelawney is closing its hostile bid for Augen Gold. Northern Dynasty Minerals has decided to sell its ownership in the Pebble project.

Trelawney's drill cores should be subjected to the drill interval calculator. Divide any gold prospect's stock chart with the price of gold.

EP Zone

What? EP Zone again??

Yup.

There was a time when the company was ready to float the idea that the EP Zone was, in matter of fact, a discovery. The market should have been quite giddy with the prospect, but there was no reaction whatsoever.

The size of the EP Zone alluvial flat-lying deposit, and its gold reef sub-crop should be confined at the very least to the Dog Creek Stock near Waddy Lake. Its mineralization is not unlike mineralization found in the Witwatersrand, South Africa, and in certain respects New South Wales, Australia.

Its commonly called a gold reef. Though years ago, a vein was commonly referred to as a reef. You'll have to go a long ways back in the history of mining because deposits like this were commonly found after the placer deposits were mined out and the outcrop was discovered.

Have a look at the publication dates on this type of deposit:

Geology Of Auriferous Gold Reefs Australia - Google Books

Here's an example of a gold reef mine in the Witwatersrand:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mponeng

Note that there are two sub-parallel veins. I would say that the grade is in question in the Wikipedia.org entry, since they are processing at a rate of 6000tpd. The bigger the processing rate, the lower the grade. Once you get to this depth, the grades tend to fall because you can't spend much time at that depth deciding which way to go about establishing grade controls.

The EP Zone alluvial chunk travelled down-ice some 800m, to give way up-ice to a sub-crop. This is known, factual historical information. What was recently discovered by the company is an outcrop of the same type of geology. The Fireweed outcrop is 1km up-ice from the EP Zone. The source of the EP Zone alluvial mineralization is the subcrop, not the outcrop.

The 200m interval between the sub-crop and outcrop suggests that there are perhaps two flat lying veins of 1m thickness, anywhere between ~35m - ~75m apart vertically depending on the angle of the dip.
