Placer Mining Article
A small article in a full page spread on gold mining in Canada observes that the unemployed in the City Of Edmonton need merely go to the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton to earn ~$3/day by panning for gold on the banks of the river.
Personally I would say that these gold grains probably originate in the vicinity in the province of Alberta, though its said they come from much further away.

Discussions in the press regarding a further revaluation upwards of the gold price to $41.32 ($4132/oz. U.S. should be closely watched present day.) Gold prices had risen after the price fix fell and gold rose to ~$34/oz. (while the price fix was $20.50/oz.)without any policy change, sparking discussions that with the revaluation, a further revaluation was required. A boom in gold mining companies was experienced during the depresssion after revaluation.
