An employee caught between a rock and a machine for eight hours at a mine mill north of La Ronge has been taken to hospital as a precaution, but appears to be uninjured.
RCMP had originally said a man became trapped underground. We now know he was inside the Jolu mill owned by Golden Band Resources Inc.
It was mid-Tuesday afternoon when the man in his 60's was in what’s known as the crushing room. The company’s vice president, Rodney Orr, says the rocks in the room toppled around the employee holding him in the same spot until he could be rescued several hours later.
The man was taken to hospital as a precaution, but he is expected to be released Wednesday morning.
Orr has spoken to him and says he’s unharmed, and in good spirits -- ready to return to work. However, the mill remained closed Wednesday for an investigation into what happened.
