Ventana Announces Additional La Mascota Drill Results-El Cuatro Extension Drilling Intercepts 38.1 Metres of 10.4 Grams Per Tonne Gold

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, May 6, 2010 (Marketwire) -- Ventana Gold Corp. (TSX:VEN) ("Ventana" or "the Company") is pleased to announce drill results from 10 additional holes on the La Bodega gold project in Colombia, including gold, silver and copper assays.

Seven of the new holes were infill holes in the main La Mascota zone (holes 180, 193, 199, 200, 202, 206 and 209), two were step-out holes drilled on the El Cuatro property (holes 204 and 207), and one was an exploration hole at the Las Mercedes zone (hole 191). Refer to the attached map and cross sections for details (http://media3.marketwire.com/docs/ventana56.pdf).

Of note among these results is hole 207, which was drilled on the El Cuatro property, approximately 600 metres to the southwest of the known mineralization at the La Mascota zone. This hole was drilled at a 60 degree angle and encountered an intercept of 38.1 metres grading 10.4 grams per tonne gold, including an interval of 4.7 metres at 23.7 grams per tonne gold, and another interval of 16.0 metres at 14.6 grams per tonne gold. Hole 207 is situated 100 metres southwest of previously reported results from hole 187, which intercepted 37.0 metres of 5.6 grams per tonne gold. These intercepts demonstrate that high-grade gold mineralization is present along strike at least 600 metres to the southwest of the known La Mascota zone. The true widths of the intercepts in El Cuatro are unknown at present and further drilling in this area is under way to better define the orientation of the mineralization.

The infill drilling at La Mascota continues to return excellent results, with hole 180 returning a 52.0 metre intercept grading 5.9 grams per tonne gold and hole 202 returning a 41.0 metre intercept grading 5.7 grams per tonne gold. The silver and copper values are also consistent with previous La Mascota results, reflecting significant additional value per tonne of ore.

Ventana President and CEO Steve Orr said: "These results continue to increase our confidence in the La Mascota zone by confirming that mineralization is present at similar style and grades along strike as far as 600 metres to the southwest of the current infill drilling area. La Mascota is shaping up to be one of the most exciting high-grade gold discoveries in recent years, and we are confident that further drilling will continue to expand this world-class deposit. We will maintain our current rate of exploration with nine drills distributed between the La Mascota, La Bodega and Las Mercedes zones."
