NASA puts Jatropha Curcas into Space
As I write, at 09:30 GMT, after being rescheduled when cloudy skies delayed it for a day, NASA's latest space shuttle mission is being launched to deliver a connecting hub and a viewing port to the International Space Station.
This flight is the 130th in the U.S. space shuttle programme, with four more missions remaining before the fleet is retired at the end of this year as part of President Obama’s austerity package.
The Shuttle is delivering new scientific experiments including a study on the Jatropha Curcas plant, used for producing biofuel, to see if its breeding process can be accelerated for commercial use. Someone is obviously taking it very seriously!
