I don't personally think that it is ever appropriate to lie to fellow Hub members. The whole fabric of this fabulous message environment depends on trusting as much as possible what our fellow Hub members provide in the way of information and insight. Once this trust is violated there is no way we can communicate information, ideas, insights or much of anything else to each other in an effective manner. If lies are being posted even about relatively minor matters then what is to prevent someone from fabricating false information in order to attempt to manipulate the sp in either a positive or negative direction. In any event I would not like to think that posting lies is permitted here at Agoracom. I have been exposed to much too much of that on several other much inferior message boards.
