Hello Doc,
I have a suggestion.
When I get "invited" by someone to look into their primary hub and check out the company etc, I introduce myself 1st, state that so in so asked be to drop in, and that I am just going to be reading and doing DD, and may or may not post at a later time.
Their is nothing threatening with this approach.
Immediately, the Agora savy folks, especially HL's, check your post history, see that you are also a HL, and they usually welcome you, and maybe ask a quick question, then leave you alone.
I have never seen my score messed with by playing it low key. After all, a newbie is kinda sorta "crashing a party."
Personnaly, when I see newbie, I refrain from voting until getting a feel for the poster, and that can take me 10-20 posts. This way I am judging new posters fairly.
Just my thoughts as always Doc.
