Member Inquiries, Feedback and Testimonials
Aitakahashi,
My Jag Media board is populated primarily by members whom I have brought over from the Raging Bull message board. I started the JAGH board on Agoracom after participating in the Falcon Oil board and seeing how much more informative and respectful the messages on the FO board were as compared to the adolescent foul language and insults being hurled around on the RB board. I have only asked that one message be deleted due to the personal insults against another board member contained in the post. I informed the board that the message had been deleted. The poster in question has changed his behavior in order to better respect the Agoracom forum. In fact, this poster has now posted interesting and informative information to our hub. I suggest that the message be tossed first along with a warning to the individual. A suspension or ban will probably not be necessary in most cases. However if the behavior continues then a 30 day suspension could be imposed. If the poster comes back and still is abusive I would toss them from the board. I even suggested that if one member persists in behaving as if he were on the RB board then he should return to that board and not bother posting on Agoracom.
Doc
doc, it sounds like you are handling things well. insults and personal attacks are certainly not allowed, and some posters who have come from the more freewheeling bulletin boards may not be aware of that. some of them can be reasoned with, and will become valued members of your forum. others come here to cause trouble, and will need to be banned. in time you will develop the judgment to tell them apart, but the really bad guys simply don't have the patience to behave themselves for very long.
good luck!
