richpickins, I had the same problem the other day so I just had a look as to why it happens on some photos and not others.  The one I had problems with was a large jpg photo (2.5 MB).  I then converted it to a GIF and had NO problem uploading it (3.3 MB).  I also left it as a JPG but resized it smaller (640 X 480).  That uploaded no problem also.  So, bottom line, it seems to have problems with larger JPG photo's.  Try resizing it and give it another shot.  If you need some good free software, try Irfanview (available at CNET):
