Among the companies whose shares are making notable moves in Wednesday's session are BlackBerry Ltd. (BBRY), Niko Resources Ltd. (NKO.T) and First Majestic Silver Corp. (FR.T).
BlackBerry ($9.28, down 3.8%) shares are down a day after the company's annual meeting, where it continued to face tough questions, particularly about its poor showing in the U.S. smartphone market. Sources also said the company's vice-president for sales in the U.S. was fired last month and that more job cuts across middle management in sales and support are coming.
Niko Resources (C$8.12, down 4.0%) posted a fourth-quarter loss of $2.1 million or 3 cents a share. Funds from operations fell to $29.7 million from $53 million.
First Majestic (C$12.12, up 3.6%) said production at its five operating silver mines in Mexico in the second quarter reached a new record of 3.3 million equivalent ounces of silver, up 55% from a year earlier.
Among the companies whose shares are making notable moves in Wednesday's session are Le Chateau Inc. (CTU.A.T) and Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. (ATD.B.T).
Le Chateau (C$4.75, up 11%) released second-quarter-to-date sales figures, saying same-store sales for the first 10 weeks of the period are up 5.1% and total retail sales are up 5.2%.
Couche-Tard (C$62.11, up 6.4%) shares are in recovery mode after closing down nearly 5% Tuesday in the wake of fourth-quarter results that missed analyst expectations.
