..could you imagine your partner maxing out the family' s credit card, and then sellling (without your knowledge or approval ) your 1940's comic book collection (or whatever) at 1/10th of it's value to cover the shortfall, and then informing you that they  had to take out a line of credit to cover household expenses for the next several months... ya, that that would fly ...
