Hello Geofan,
Your post says:
"Rago1 -it's not that he wasn't recommended, it's that his name doesn't appear on the list - perhaps there is a reason - which may not be a bad one!!"
According to the NR on 22 Oct 2012 (signed by Peter Smith) FNC released the following statement:
"(the "ISS Report") recommending among other things that the Company's shareholders vote FOR the management board nominees, namely Paul Ankcorn, Debra Chapman, Gilles Dubuc, Fouad Kamaleddine, Jean Lafleur, Mel de Quadros and Michael Sayer at the upcoming annual general meeting of shareholders to be held on October 26, 2012 (the "Meeting")."
So, it factual that the list does not contain Peter Smith, the key person on the present slate of director (the management proxy contains 8 names rather than 7 names on the recommended list).
At any rate, this is consistent with your statement "it's that his name doesn't appear on the list". Hence, ISS recommendation is quite clear and it shows that Dr. Smith is not on the ISS recommended list of directors.
It would be informative to the readers of this board if you could elaborate a bit more on the reason(s) for this deliberate and crystal clear decision by ISS to exclude Dr. Smith on their recommended list of directors?
If this were an error of omission (of Dr. Smith on the list) then surely ISS would have come out with a correction by now?
I have nothing against Dr. Smith as a geo. Perhaps, they would reserve a position for him as, for example, VP of Exploration, but not as a board member? And the board would appoint a new CEO, if it survives the "non-confident" vote.
