Cappy,
Your Google map link works fine, but the Magpie map does not have enough details to be superimposed on the Sept-Isle map from Google. A good way to put all information together is to use Google Earth.
- Type in Sept-Isle lat and long (50 13 14N, 66 20 55W) should bring up Sept-Isle, put a yellow pin there to mark the spot for the port.
- Type in the lat and long for Magpie (51 25 00 N, 64 05 00W) from Genivar Magpie Technical Report. Label this spot as Magpie with another pin.
- Locate Labrador City: Again, mark this spot with a third pin.
This would show the relative distance from Magpie to existing transporation cooridors: The N-S RR from Labrador City to Port Sept-Isle and the E-W Quebec North Shore RR and Hwy 138 (transport by trucks from Magpie to a staging area near the RR for subsequent rail transport?). Approximately, Magpie is about 120 km east of the N-S railine (taking iron ores from various mines to the south) and about the same distance north of hwy 138 (and the Quebec North Shore Rail line).
Sept-Isle has been a major port for ore shipment from the north (e.g. from Iron Ore Company, Consolidated Thompson, now CLF). Premier Charet's major election platform is his Plan Nord. Also, note: A few days ago the Fed/John Baird just announced a $5M grant for expanding one of the dock (Point-Noire). Not sure if Plan Nord has Magpie in mind. If not a short rail connection either to the west or to the south would need to be developed. Perhaps, some deep pocket off-shore company would be willing to build the RR as part of an off-take agreement for the stuff at Magpie?
