The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, March 1, edition that RBC Dominion Securities analyst Robin Kozar says Champion Minerals ($2.70), shares are "attractive" at current levels. The Globe's Darcy Keith writes in the Eye On Equities column that a preliminary economic assessment suggests its Fire Lake North project could produce seven million tonnes of iron ore concentrates annually for 14 years. Mr. Kozar commenced new coverage with an "outperform-speculative risk" rating and a $3.50 price target. Champion Minerals has a 52-week range of 70 cents to $3.30. NexGen Financial portfolio manager Jonathan Baird said in The Globe on Feb. 2, 2011, that Champion Minerals could be a potential takeover target. He said: "It has already had substantial exploration success. Based on the prospects for adding more iron ore reserves, combined with what they have already discovered, I think it is trading very, very cheaply compared to other iron-ore related companies." Mr. Baird figured the stock could be worth $4 by year end. The shares were then going for $2.73.
