Totally my take on this and I postulated this months ago. FNC can likely do a comfortable deal with Noront so that sufficient money can be spent to explore the FNC claims next to Noront's.

One half the cake is better than crumbs and the deal possible now could be a lot better than one they are forced into when money runs out. Drilling deep is extremely expensive and raising money for such drilling could cost more than what's given up for a jv.
