About the PDAC

The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) is a national association representing the interests of the mineral exploration and development industry. The association, which includes individual and corporate members, was established in March 1932. Click here for an account of the first meeting.

The work of the association is guided by the following mission statement:

The association’s activities can be classified broadly under the following headings: advocacy, information, and networking and are summarized in PDAC Activities, an annual publication.

A 48-member board of directors, with national representation, and twelve committees carry out the work of the association, with the support of a fulltime staff of 11. The PDAC’s volunteers, who represent the full spectrum of professions which make up the exploration and development sector, are critical to the effectiveness and success of the association. Their knowledge, expertise, and experience, together with a high degree of energy, enthusiasm, and loyalty, are priceless commodities. Their close connections with industry form an invaluable link between the association and industry and ensure that the activities of the PDAC are topical, effective, and relevant.
