I expected a flatter line. If you use the EMA it will be because it gives more weight to recent share price.

Can you explain this in a layman's term?

When share price is above its 100-day MA, the trend is considered bullish. When the stock is below the 100-day MA, the trend is considered bearish. Buy and sell signals are generated by crosses above and below the moving average.
