Despite the difficulties the Canadian Falcon does not gives up on the exploitation of the gas resource in the Makó trough. The Hungarian subsidiary has $30 million to continue the drilling.
György Szabó did not conceal his disagreement with the statements József Molnár head of the Szolnok area Mining Bureau said to this newspaper that was published two weeks ago. On location here, György Szabó, TXM’s production manager in his response strove to prove that production is indeed taking place. To be reminded of: in recent years the Canadian Falcon-owned TXM has been claiming that the area contains large quantities of gas resource even enough for export. However the timeline for extraction is dragging. According to the Szolnok Mining Bureau, if TXM does not have a meaningful production in 2012, then the Mining Bureau can withdraw license, and the area becomes free again. And according to the available data, he has doubts that there will be serious candidate.
To demonstrate the serious flaws in the Mining Bureau’s statements, György Szabó in his presentation to journalists have shown the Magyarcsanád-1 well - where a flare pipe was really burning - saying they have pre-production testing taking place. This well yields gas sufficient enough to run an electricity-generating engine. In his opinion, irresponsible statements are unnecessary, and whenever there are doubts use co-operation. Besides, if the investors really do not crowd the landscape, then why would they want to take back the already awarded 35-year permit? - He said. According Dr.Szabó, the president of the Hungarian Mining and Geology Office has a different opinion from the Szolnok Mining Bureau. József Molnár did not wish to respond on the subject to the newspaper.
However on the subject, whether TXM’s co-operating partners ExxonMobil and MOL because of the unsuccessful results contemplating to leave, György Szabó declined to comment. But at the same time, he told this newspaper that Falcon will certainly continue the drillings, and does have $30 million at his disposal. He also reiterated that, if the similarities in drilling results in United States are projected onto Makó, then production starting in 2012 just in a few years may cover the total domestic gas consumption. But, in the case of failure to achieve this goal, do not hold me responsible- he added.
