The only hope we have is that the shares don't go to zero which is my biggest fear

Maybe you should do what I did and sell most of them but leave a few just in case. Not like it's going to $50 a share on some good news. Can always get back in should the partners decide to continue. If not, at least all your shares didn't go to zero :)
