For the record though, I think Exxon will proceed to phase 2. If Ford spent a few years designing a new model of car, they wouldn't abandon the project if they happened to get a few flat tires on their first test drive. They would more likely be more careful in making sure that there are no sharp objects on the test track before they try again.
