Hungarian official denies Nabucco delay

Today's news about several years of delay in the Nabucco gas pipeline schedule is inaccurate, Hungary's Ambassador-At-Large Mihály Bayer commented this afternoon. Supplies to Europe will start in line with the original plans, he added.
In news covered by Portfolio.hu earlier today, international media sources quoted Nabucco Spokesman Christian Dolezal as saying that construction of the European section of the gas pipeline would begin no sooner than in 2016.
In an interview with Portfolio.hu, Bayer said he had contacted Dolezal for information on his alleged statements, however the spokesman denied having made any such comments, adding that his words were probably misinterpreted by journalists. The year 2016 was mentioned in connection with the Turkish segment of the pipeline, perfectly in line with the original plans. The target launch date is unchanged, thus Europe may receive the first supplies in 2014.
