The Mako trough is not the only play in Hungary :) The Békési Basin also got some attention lately.

"They are looking for oil and gas around Gyula"
The town of Gyula is about 5 km from the Romanian border. Here's the gist of this article.
In the area surrounding Gyula, seismic measurements had been taken in the last six months. The long search must have turned up some good results, because they have built a 20 meter high drilling tower near Kétegyháza.
The seismic measurements reached thousand of meters in depth, the purpose is not secret, they are looking for oil and gas.
The measurements has been completed, its valuation will take quite a bit of time, and there won't be any information for awhile- said Molnár Imre director of Acoustic Geofizikai Szolgáltató Kft - although he admitted that test drilling has been already started.
No answers were coming forward to our query from the company that ordered these measurements, and judging from the size of the exploration area it is second only to MOL, the American affiliated Magyar Horizont Energy Kft. Still, just in couple of days, the American and czech workers raised and completed a drilling tower.
The rest of the story is speculations about hydrocarbons etc. Also mentioning MOL and Horizont having 6-8 wells at Dévaványána.

All in all drilling activity is up in Hungary, lets hope Exxon will turn on the pace this summer :)
