>The EU commission has not yet commented on these developments, but the time is ripe for both the Europeans and the U.S. authorities to have their say on one of the most dangerous of the Kremlin's long list of criminal enterprises.

Emfesz, the biggest player on Hungary's deregulated gas market, is buying gas from the local unit of German utilities giant E.ON, Emfesz spokesman Igor Gallyas told MTI.
Buying gas from E.ON Földgáz Trade is more advantageous at the moment, but “there is competition,” as Emfesz's new owner, RosGas, will supply it with gas in the long term, Gallyas said.
Although the gas from E.ON is more expensive, Emfesz will not raise prices for its clients, he said.
Emfesz said on April 28 that it was supplying its clients with gas from reserves in Hungary because its former supplier RosUkrEnergo could not access reserves in Ukraine.
Emfesz said on May 7 that it was acquired by RosGas from Mabofi Holding, owned by the Ukrainian businessman Dmitry Firtash. Mabofi's general director later said the shares of Emfesz had been “fraudulently transferred” to RosGas. (MTI – Econews)
