Developing large acreage positions of unconventional and conventional oil and gas resources

This is new:

Petrohunter had previously drilled one well in 2007, the Shanandoah-1 well, which was suspended prior to reaching its intended total depth. It is intended that this well will be re-entered in 2009 to drill to the planned total depth.

So we now know what part of the plan is for the Beetaloo....to finish drilling the Shanandoah-1 to it's original planned depth. So what was the planned depth?

From PetroHunter in 2007:

We spudded the Sweetpea Shenandoah No. 1 well on July 31, 2007 and drilled to 4,724 feet. Intermediate casing was run on September 15, 2007 and the well was then suspended with an intention to deepen the well to a depth of 9,580 feet.

(9580 feet = 2920 meters)

This is from an article about the Beetaloo:

"Proterozoic sediments comprising the Roper Group, which are fairly well defined by seismic data in the Beetaloo Basin, reach 3000 m in thickness in the centre of the basin"

So in other words, the plan for the Shanandoah-1 is to drill right to the bottom of the trough. The location of the Shanandoah-1 is also relatively close to the center of the basin.

"In the centre of the basin only, the Moroak and Bessie Creek sandstones may include unconventional, indirect, underpressured, basin-centred gas accumulations."

I would think it is safe to assume that the primary goal of the Shanandoah-1 is therefore to target, and thus prove the existance of, the BCGA.

From Silvermans report:

"Only 11 wells have been drilled in the entire basin. Total depths in the previous wells rarely exceeded 2000 m, though at least 3000 m of potentially prospective section is present."
