Csaba Molnár’s proposal - We could safeguard your gas!

Hungary could build rental strategic gas-reserve storage for other countries, proposed by the Hungarian government on energy security initiative to the European Commission - said Csaba Molnár.

Csaba Molnár the minister of transportation-communication and energy made his speech front of the European Commission. He spoke of expediting the exploitation of the domestic gas reserves, he also proposed, the European Commission should monitor the gas supplying countries not only when there is a crises, but on the full time basis.

Hungary, probably Central-Eastern-Europe’s most prepared country when it comes to strategic gas-reserve storage. One third of the country’s yearly gas energy demand is stored in the strategic gas-reserve. However, there are countries, that due to geological conditions, unable to create their own strategic gas storage.

According to the minister, the Hungarian proposal would give an opportunity to these countries to secure their energy reserves by renting storage in other countries. Hungary, conceivably could be one of these countries, we could build rental storage for Romania and Serbia. It is an excellent business opportunity for Hungary - said Csaba Molnár.

Additionally, Csaba Molnár talked about possibilities of speeding up the domestic gas exploitation that provides 15-20% of Hungary’s gas energy needs. He wants to expedite the processing of licensing procedures.
