Russia ready to assist Ukraine amid economic crisis

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said this after the signing ceremony for Ukrainian-Russian gas contracts for 2009-2019.

"I want to say that for our part, we will do all we can to support Ukraine. We have something to speak both under economic and financial conditions, meaning rather a high level of cooperation between our economies," he said. Putin noted that the settlement of the Ukrainian-Russian gas dispute on Monday would unblock a number of economic issues. He expressed confidence that by increasing cooperation between the countries, it would be easier to live through a difficult period of the "turbulence of global economy and finance."
