Developing large acreage positions of unconventional and conventional oil and gas resources

At this point in time, I think the best case scenario is to sit back and let Exxon do their stuff, and if they are succesful, put up a big 'for sale' sign.
Remember Duverney? Shell paid 6 billion, mainly because of their ~6 TCF of gas.
CALGARY — Global energy giant Royal Dutch Shell PLC is acquiring Duvernay Oil Corp. (TSX:DDV) of Calgary in a rich C$5.9 billion deal that will nearly double Shell’s North American natural gas output.
....
"Our interest in Duvernay relates to their tight gas assets and our ability to bring our operating experience in tight gas and our financial abilities to bear on those assets,”
“We had built two very large uncoventional gas programs, one in B.C., one in Alberta that have multi-year drilling inventories ahead of them and significant production and reserve upside that and Shell recognized that,” Rose said in an interview with Business News Network, a cable TV business channel based in Toronto.
“And hence the bid came.”
