Mindszent- Mol and ExxonMobil have recently completed their joint venture test well, the location of this well is just outside Mindszent on the Mihasi road. The test well is part of Companies effort to map the hydrocarbon resources under ground in the Mako trough. The completion of this work will continue in the spring, and the results will be known by next summer.
As we have reported in last August, test well drilling was started in the Mindszent region. ExxonMobile and Mol jointly exploring and mapping this part of the Mako trough. The two companies are partners in a 50-50 joint venture financed by ExxonMobile. After the completion of testing these test wells, the company experts will determine the quantity and the economics of this resource. The resource is unconventional, and these studies will determine whether the exploitation will be economical. ExxonMobil is the world-leading expert on unconventional resource exploration.
The Midszent-3 well was completed on schedule; the drilling rig has been dismantled and moved to a new site. There are all sorts of containers left on the well site. According to György Bacsur, Mol’s communication officer, work will resume in the spring, all the while the date analyzation has already began. It will be mid 2009 before the complete results will be known.
