Keith Hulley summarized Daniel Major's backgound and experience as " broad and diversified". That appears to be a gross understatement!
Here is the summary:
25 years international mining experience including mine development and operations management, financing, mergers and acquisitions.
COO Ecometals Ltd, South America...exploration and development
CEO Basic Element, Moscow...mine development...annual revenue over half billion $$$...17,000 employees
Investment Banker and Senior Mining Analyst at JP Morgan and HSBC.
Century Mining is a JUNIOR mining company with plans to become a mid-tier producer.
They were able to attract a very senior experienced international mining professional that would be in the running for very senior positions at any major mining company including Vale and Xstrata.
This confirms that the new owners, Messrs Finisky and Skola were highly influential in attracting Mr. Major and that there are indeed very serious plans to grow the company into a mid-tier producer. Although he is british, Mr Major worked in the mining industry in Russia at a senior level. Finiski himself is a senior mining executive in Russia. Major was not an unknown quantity.
With his extensive background Mr Major was not motivated to join CMM by the 3M options over 5 years. At current prices he was paid over $1M. However he is likely already rich. His motivation is to take this company to a new level.
Crazytrade, if he was already on the BOD, it was likely because he insisted on checking out the Company from the inside before he made his decision. I suspect it took a lot of convincing by Finisky, Scola and others to get him to agree to join CMM.
IMHO this move signals the start of things to come for CMM. I will be very surprised if we do not see acquisitions before Christmas.
