08:28 AM EST, 11/14/2017 (MT Newswires) -- Endeavour Mining (EDV.TO), which mines gold in Western Africa, said on Tuesday it has identified new mineral-bearing targets at its Hounde and Karma project sites in Burkina Faso.

The company said it has begun early reconnaissance drilling into an area with high gold mineralization at the Hounde site, focusing on the east side of what it called a large geochemical anomal 6 kilometers long and 2.5 kilometers wide. Early drilling results showed some intercepts bearing 43.39 grams of gold per tonne over 6.2 meters, 8.75 grams of gold over over 12.2 meters and 4.81 grams per tonne of the metal over 9 meters. Further drilling over the anomaly will take place in the first half of 2018.

At Karma, Endeavour is testing a 600-meter mineralized area where drilling has intercepted zones bearing as much as 15.8 grams of gold per tonne over 8.1 meters, while other drilling at the project site showed other gold-bearing intercepts.
