Less than one month after the federal government slammed the door on BHP Billiton’s attempted takeover of PotashCorp, it appears the mining giant is not giving up on Saskatchewan.

BHP Billiton has purchased a permit to explore just over 84,000 acres in central Saskatchewan in its hunt for more potash.

It purchased the permit from Acron, a Russian mining company for an undisclosed amount.
