Vicinity entered into what read like a tentative backup supplier relationship with Electrovaya.
The UL Cert was probably a catalyst, but once again the hold back in Vicinity placing a hard order with a cash commitment is the lack of a reliable supply based on limited production capacity.
Vicinity subsequently, on 1/13/22, selected Proterra with solid commitment for current and future bus platforms.
Why?
Proterra's already installed base of Bus battery packs and management systems, but more importantly their long list of reliable OEM suppliers and customers (see their website under Partners) they have all the ingredients...and the ovens.
Electrovaya simply needs to be an agent for their best talent which is the process of making a superior Lithium Ion battery that a major OEM can build as a partnership.
Just like a Sports Agent gets payed for landing his best talented athletes in contractually lucrative deals to perform.
