"I found the idea of working with various additives to the electrode coating mix to improve battery performance rather interesting given that EFL is the only company with this patented process for Li batteries."
Current manufacturing processes employ a solvent-based slurry mixing/coating method with N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) as the solvent of choice. A comparison of the microstructure and performance of electrodes produced with Electrovaya’s process and conventional NMP methods is shown. This includes both SEM/TEM analysis in addition to novel TOF-SIMS analysis methods. Finally, the new process also allows the use of sensitive additives, which will further enhance the performance and energy density of lithium-ion batteries.
Sensative additives is what Tesla is investigating with Jeff Dunn. I am wondering if they are trying to work their way around Electrovaya's battery tech or putting the final touches on a plan th use Electrovaya technology?
